When choosing an antivirus provider we recommend you take into account test scores from independent antivirus testing labs such as VirusBulletin, AV-Test and AV-Comparatives. We have included some of these scores for your convinence throughout our website and try to keep this regulary up-to-date. Some providers choose not to participate with every lab. This could be down to time, cost (antivirus companies have to pay the test labs), and in some cases they may not pass.
The Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization (AMTSO) was founded in May 2008 as an international non-profit association that focuses on the addressing the global need for improvement in the objectivity, quality and relevance of anti-malware testing methodologies. So they set the testing guidelines for the labs. Please be aware that our listings are not based on malware detection scores but a combination of factors.
